General Carpentry
We do general carpentry, which means we love to build things. Using quality material and craftsmanship, we are always ready to build free standing structures such as garages and custom sheds, along with attached structures like porches, additions and enclosures.
We do a wide variety of framing construction carpentry and finish carpentry. But our expertise extends to installing windows and doors. We can fit that open porch with windows and a door. Below is a photo of an enclosure we recently completed.
Enclosures
You can enclose an open or screen porch into either a 3 season room or even a 4 season room. This was an open porch that we framed, and then added windows, siding and insulation.
We also finished the inside with wainscoting below and above the windows. Fortunately the windows were available in the siding color of the house, so the porch blended well with the rest of the structure.
Framing
We only use KD lumber to frame whatever area you’re trying to finish. What this means to you is that the boards stay straighter longer and so the finished job is going to look better over time. For exterior construction we use “ground contact pressure treated”, which is only occasionally found at the home centers. It lasts twice as long as conventional pressure treated boards.
Whether it requires a permit and codes department inspections or not we’ll still do an expert job. And if we need plans we’ll draw them up and submit them for approval. By always building according to best practices you’ll get a structure that will last for years to come.
Finish Carpentry
Sometimes we replace baseboards, and door and window casings, most often because it’s become damaged over time dating back to the original construction. We can install chair rail molding in whatever room you desire along with wainscoting for that custom look.
Installing Doors
These are before and after pictures. The window, door and window were replaced by an 8 foot sliding glass door, and the stucco was patched on the outside to finish the job.
We also replace all kinds of interior doors, both hinged doors and sliding closet doors. Sometimes it’s a style change you’re looking for but often the interior doors get damaged or otherwise break.
Exterior doors may need replacing to keep the cold out in winter or to freshen up the look or otherwise improve the function. Exterior doors are best purchased with a frame and sill attached in order to get the weather seal that is required. Modifications can also be made to enlarge the opening to put in a larger door if desired.
Wood and Vinyl Replacement Windows
When it comes to windows I can replace your windows with vinyl windows if that’s what you want. We can replace just 2 or 3 broken ones or replace all your windows. You determine how many you want. But if you want to replace all your windows, we can do that too, with vinyl or wood.
A favorite of mine is Anderson Woodwright windows because they are wood like your original windows and they’re of excellent quality. I’ve had many happy customers who have chosen that particular product for their whole house. Another favorite is Simonton because of their lifetime transferable warranty without breaking the bank.
Additions, Garages or Sheds
We can also build you an addition to extend your living space, maybe for your kitchen remodel project or a rec room. It could double the cost of a kitchen remodel, but may be the right move. We do wood frame additions, with standard roofing, and use a variety of siding materials.
We can build you a garage or a shed to your specifications. Using traditional wood construction techniques allows us to accommodate any design. Strong and durable, we customize each build to specifications, and it’s surprisingly affordable too. A custom shed will not increase your taxes and a garage will add value to your home.
